Kai, sitting demurely in the back seat. Yep, another one of those graduation photos, I think. This reminds me of the truck Pepa parked at our house on Wabash for however long. We thought climbing around in that thing was the best thing in the WORLD. And of course, both cars smell like wet carpet.

Excuse my camera fumblings--but I thought this one was fun anyway, especially as I had so entirely over-exposed it that it was practically all white, before. Lightroom always provides intriguing possibilities, though the only change to this is exposure.

We take it as our solemn duty to make quite certain that we are fully armed with those disturbing graduation or wedding photos.

You know, the ones that you can't BELIEVE your parents just showed the whole world. Mwahaha.

Aw, but this one is sweet. And typical. Kai has started running away from Rollie in his walker, and telling him to "stay there!" and getting a bit offended at Rollie's continued assault on his ankles. And of course, Rollie follows him everywhere, bumping him at every turn.

Marty took all the pictures of the boys. Rollie loves his new rug, and was looking particularly sweet.

This was my other project. Well, finishing it at long last, anyway. Okay, well, refurbishing it. Kai has been robbing it of its first-fruits for some time.

My only fallish effort. I've got to do something else, I just haven't decided what, exactly.

Marty, showing me how the flash should be used to fill in the subject, so I can under-expose the background, and thus get some detail in the window.

Oh well, this is before he showed me, and the picture I took after he showed me wasn't that great. So I scrapped it.

New acquisitions:

Picking this thing up in the new early dark was a bit harrowing, especially when I misremembered a turn, and we took a 14 mile detour through a very bad smell.

We put the boys to bed, and then unloaded it and took it for a spin, which I found slightly harrowing, partly due, no doubt, to the strange sound of this sort of engine, and partly (definitely) to the lack of seat-belts. Oh yes, and let's not forget that it's a manual transmission, so it's not exactly a ride that's supposed to lull you into a sweet sleep to begin with. But it was cool, and Marty's ... er.. yes, Marty's not-so-secretly ecstatic.

Besides that, we now have a rug. Poor Rollie hasn't even bothered trying to crawl on this slippery floor, but contents himself with rolling around, banging his head at every time he turns over, and acting very frustrated. So we bought him a rug:

He is now a new person. He immediately started dragging himself around, and actually spends more than 3 minutes on the floor.

The cars like it, too -- it provides a lovely road for them, without being one of those road maps that doesn't leave anything for the imagination.

And THIS...

Is what we're going to go get this evening. It's very not perfect, but it's also a very good price. It's also sea green, so I was wrong. Whaaaatevah'.

In which I use my power as the resident blogger to post pictures of Marty he would probably wish I d

(Here's where you see true evidence of my power. Mwaha. As Kelly says, this is how you know Marty's tired--he starts looking like this. This being a rooster, that is. Hair standing straight up.)

Hi Marty. *smirk*

Rollie enjoyed meeting the grandparents. He zoomed around their respective homes and vigorously attacked the plants.

The skies when we went to Tsankawi were truly astonishing. I concede (to my mother) any claim I might ever have made about Texas skies being equal to New Mexico.

Unfortunately, Kai didn't appreciate them. He wept buckets. And I got to hold him on the whole hike. Yay! Actually, he was very cuddly at the end.

Fly like the wind, Tonto! Er.. well, anyway, you get the idea.

Rollie's a pretty easy-going guy. I think he looks a bit like Augustus Gloop (sp?) here.

Oops. I think this is the wrong one. Too late now.

El Santuario de Chimayo, the most photographed church in the states, according to Marty. Or maybe it was in New Mexico? Hm.

Oops, the view from Tsankawi.

The door leading to El Sanctuario de Chimayo.

The horse of El Sanctuario de Chimayo. In our family, he's more important even than the Holy Dirt.

Back in Santa Fe, I think, heading over to Smith's--the only place in town to shop, aside from Trader Joe's.

A vision we saw by the way.

This one is from Deer Trap Mesa, methinks. Another one of my top favorite photos.

And not to forget the Black Hole and the 35,000 gallon nitrogen pressure tank

The whole place was like this. Stuffed with cool gadgets.

Bandelier. One of my favorite hikes, I think. However, most of the pictures aren't done.

The rest of the kids. (April, Ethan, and the twins, Evan and Emma.)

Kai begs me to cease, so I shall.

I forgot a few from last week --

Rollie's newest Ikea toy. He loves it. We love it. He finally plays by himself. Actually, I think he made a mental leap. He's started playing very well, and I dare say it had nothing to do with this over-head thingy.

Last weeks peaches and pork-chops. Wow, sauteed peaches are AMAZING.

Rollie wore Benedict's Lemony Snicket outfit to church last week. He looked very clever and quite strange.

My newest soup pan. For two and a half years I made soups in two seperate small pans (much to my disgust and annoyance), and now I'm rich in pans. And I love yellow.

On Saturday night we tried to take a few waffle pictures for a guy at church who makes his own blueberry syrup (among other blueberry products). We didn't end up having all the things we wanted, and I was no help (holding Rollie), so what we got was what we got in an hour, and that was that. But it was fun.

I was actually quite pleased with the result, myself, but I'm usually pretty impressed.

Rollie looks like he's thinking, "WHOA.... a UFO!! I knew there was life!"

In the evenings, we sometimes visit the construction equipment (which Kai tries to kiss), the new house in progress, and gaping holes in the brand new street.

Sunday, the Jacobsons came over to have lunch with us, and Kai got himself very wet, and played with the cooler.

Later, we were saddened to find that no matter how unripe our glorious large tomatoes are, the Animal takes a large bite out of them. I'm thinking of sitting out all night and clobbering the twit. Grr..

Kai looks like a vampire.

And that's it. Except for a couple extra pictures on picasa, anyway.
